Scam alert: we never call, and never ask for payment by phone
We will NEVER call you.
No one from Corbot or the inmate's texting service will ever phone you — not for support, not for payment, not for any reason.
All customer support is handled here, in writing, on this portal.
What families are reporting: someone calls the friends and family of an incarcerated individual, claims to be the inmate's “texting service,” and asks for payment. These calls are not from us. We have no call center, no phone support, and no phone payment of any kind.
Please be advised: we NEVER call anyone, for ANY reason. If someone telephones you about this service, it is a scam.
How to tell a real message from ours:
- Everything from us is in writing — a reply here on this help desk, plus an email copy of that reply.
- Payment receipts come only from Square, or PayPal, and they come to the email address you used.
- We never ask for gift cards, wire transfers, Zelle, or Venmo. No legitimate company ever asks for payment that way.
- The only ways to pay are https://openefforts.com/pay using the inmate's register number, or by mail to Open Efforts, PO Box 674, San Martin, CA 95046.
If you receive one of these calls:
- Do not pay, and do not give out card, bank, or PayPal details.
- Do not call the number back.
- Write down the number and what was said, then open a ticket here and tell us — we track these reports.
- Report it to the FTC at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov and to your phone carrier.
If you already paid a caller: contact your card issuer or bank right away and ask them to reverse the charge. The sooner you call, the better the chance. We cannot recover money paid to a scammer and cannot reverse those payments — that money never reached us.
Questions about the account are always answered here, at no charge. If you are ever unsure whether something came from us, open a ticket and ask before you pay anything.
